Surrounded by fields and dairy farms, my “free-range” childhood offered ample unstructured play and a verdant landscape which cut loose my imagination. My fondest memories were when I created imaginary lives within the honeysuckle hedges, rearranged my bedroom furniture nearly every season, hand-picked fresh blooms to put in one of my mom’s vases or was given the cherished task of setting (and embellishing) the table for holiday meals.

Those fields and my mom’s garden served their purpose but I knew there was no other place for me than the city. Completing my MFA at Moore College of Art & Design in Interior Design, I began my career in design where I absorbed everything I could related to the emerging trend of “sustainability” in the built environment. After a few years, I started my own business, focused on design, sustainability, and energy efficiency.

Back then and still today, I strongly believe in supporting whatever local economy I’m in - whether Philadelphia or places where I’m a traveler. In fact, I’ll share a deep, dark secret with you. Way back in 2011, I created a YouTube channel for interviews I conducted with local design vendors. It was my valiant effort to give them more exposure and to help people see how rich our city was with talent. Watching those videos now, I vacillate between assessing my wardrobe choices (and wishing I still had a few of those pieces) and giving my younger self a pat on the back for being courageous and trying something new.

Over the last 15 years, my career evolved into directing the strategy and implementation of a national sustainability and climate resilience program. It was rewarding work; however, I felt the draw to come back to design - whether it’s interiors, floral design, dressing well or whatever allows me to exercise my creativity more consistently.

So here I am. Reintroducing myself. I’m here to make beautiful spaces, create one-of-a-kind floral designs, source locally (and sustainably), collaborate across the vibrant community of creatives in Philadelphia, and live with fervor. Here’s a collection of my design through spaces and florals.
